Would love to contact anyone about the history of 6/52. I was “volunteered” to go to the newly opened Sector Operations Center (SOC) 3 in Erbeskopf where I served for exactly one year (could not get out of that bunker sooner!!) then went to C/6/61 in Ingolstadt as XO for 6 months where I was promoted to CAPT then took over A/6/61 as BC for about 9 months. Got married there the first time.
I returned to 6/52 as the S-3 in 1974 where I was given the orders to “make the unit the best in NATO”. We took the first NATO Tactical Evaluation for the unit in more than 3 years in September, I believe, and scored the highest of any IHAWK unit in Europe. Not everyone loved our “tough” training, but we became the first battalion that could move a battery off their home site in less than 45 minutes and set up on a true tactical field site in less than 30 minutes. We actually moved the BN OC for the first time in probably more than a decade and actually made it work in driving rain!!
With C/6/52 we went to NAMFI as the first to fire there in January 75.
Too much to say; I am married again, have 3 kids (all grown, the youngest is 36) and 4 grand kids.

In 1988 I went to SHORAD as NCIOC of Chap Mechanic course 1989 to 5/5 ADA Camp Stanley Korea, then back to SHORAD as NCOIC until I retired in 1994.

I have many fond memories of my time "on the hill" ... and i couldn't believe you had a couple of pictures! When I was in, the vietnam war was just over and cameras were forbidden. man, i have a million stories, though. the army was really wacked; it was more like M.A.S.H. than you would ever believe. nobody cared about ANYTHING! i tell you about it sometime.
