About Karla

This might just be a "girl" thing but for those of you who want to know something about me.

My full name is Karla Kay Miles.

I met my husband Bruce while we both were in A 6/52 in Wurzburg, FRG.  We got married  in December 1991 and we have three wonderful children, Ariel Jasmine age 13, Alithea "Jessi" Jessica 11 and Elijah Jordan 9.

I was born in February 1970 when my dad was in VietNam.

So I was born and raised an Army brat.  I graduated from Hanau American High School in 1988.

About a week after graduating we PCSed back to the states.  While on leave in Iowa (Cedar Rapids area) I enlisted and chose an MOS that
1) had a long AIT because I was told if it has a long AIT you can probably use it when you get out (they lied!!) and
2) guarenteed me Germany because I loved Germany when I was there and
3) I could leave as soon as possible because I didn't want to settle into a new home at a new duty station and leave again.

And that is the strange way I choose to be a 24G, HAWK Information Coordination Central Mechanic. I had absolutely no idea what a HAWK missile system was or looked like, but my dad was kind of impressed.  He said there was a HAWK battery in Wildflecken, Germany he saw sometimes when he traveled that way.

I wasn't too impressed with the system until I went to a live night fire with the  new PIP III HAWK and Patriot.  HAWK was AWESOME!!!  Patriot did little to impress me, it had problems locking on the drone and knocked the launcher over a few times.

HAWK hit the drone before we even heard the "boom" from the launch (forgive me not being technical here, I can't remember the exact term to use).

Other useless information about me, I homeschool my children, I am a huge Jeff Gordon (NASCAR) fan, I collect angels, eagles and nativity scenes.

Anything I forgot, just ask!
