A few people have asked what they can do to help, first GET THE WORD OUT!! I am not doing this for me, but because so many people want to find old friends, information about what happened to their old unit, etc. You can print out this page and mail it to friends who aren't online, along with the application. Or I have a simple information page and you can print out instead of this page. Print them out and pass them out at your reunion. Second, consider writing an article about HAWK, what you liked, a favorite memory, anything. I promise no editing from me if that is a concern. There are no article contributions so far. I am hoping for our first issue to be available the beginning of June 2003. I have a few ideas that I hope will work. First, an online version. No membership required or anything like that. Just click on the mailing list button on the right and I'll send out a link when the new version is online. Snail mail version as well for those who are "internet challenged" or just prefer a hard copy. Second, a membership directory. For that obviously I will need some info from you. That I will send out by snail mail only since there are many people who are leary about having any personal information available online (even on secure pages). I think I will send out once or twice a year. You may give any information you are comfortable giving; address, phone number, etc. Obviously I must have a name and mailing address to send it out. Click here for the form, e-mail me or send it to the PO Box at the top with your info or e-mail me and ask for an application that I'll mail to you. No fees of any type. I will of course accept donations to help with expenses, mailing, printing, and stuff. I didn't get a volunteer to write an article each issue so I guess you are unfortunately stuck with my random thoughts every three months or so. Guest articles will always be welcome. E-mail me an article, use the submission form or send it by snail mail to the PO Box at the top. Unit spotlights are going to take some work. First to find information about the unit and what units to spotlight? But I think that is doable. If anybody wants to do a "What I've been up to since HAWK" article I'll put those in when they're available. I may just do a flat rate of $5 per ad. All ads within reason I think I'll accept, selling, looking for somebody, wanted. I won't charge for reunion ads. No form for that yet. |
